Benjamin Sumner of Milford was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Friday by Milford Police after trying to strangle the woman by grasping her around the neck with his hands, and then hitting a man inside the home with his fist, said the Milford Police.
The woman has a protective order against Sumner "prohibiting him from assaulting her," said the police report.
Sumner was charged with disorderly conduct, violation of a protective order, assault and strangulation.
He is being held on a $10,000 bond.
